Crookenden In Singles Final

The former national champion, J. E. Robson and the 18-year-old Waikato junior I. Crookenden, who both scored easy wins in their semifinals today, will meet in the final of the Auckland tennis championships at Stanley street tomorrow.

Robson with his partner A. S. Burns, has also reached the men’s doubles final, in which they play the Wellington pair, J. M. Souter and R Hawkes. The New Zealand women’s singles runner-up. Miss P. Belton, qualified for three finals: Results;—

Men's Singles.—Semi-finals; J E. Robson beat J. H. Lockington. 6-3. 6-2. 6-0; I. Crookenden (Waikato) beat K. H. Long, 6-2, 6-1, 6-3. Women's Singles.—Semi-finals: Miss P. Belton beat Miss E. Green, 6-3, 1-6, 6-1; Mrs H. Robson beat Mrs F. Lobb. 6-2, 6-2. Men’s Doubles.—Semi-finals: Robson and A. S. Burns beat Crookenden and I. Easton (Waikato), 6-1, 6-2, 6-2; J. B. Souter and R. Hawkes (Wellington) bea’ Lockington and B. Brown. 6-3. 7-9. 6-4 6-3.

Women’s Doubles. Semifinals: Mrs Robson and Miss R. Morrison beat Miss B. Wright and Miss Green. 6-4, 6-1; Miss Belton and Mrs Lobb beat Miss L. Smith and Miss J. Trewby (Great Britain) 6-4. 6-3.
