The gates will dose an opening 36 feet in width and 47 feet in height, and will operate under a maximum heed of 186 feet from headwater to gate sill. The piers will be recessed to permit side seals to seal on the upstream face of the recess. The shape of piers and recesses will be hydiraulice®ly tested by the Authority. If the manufacturer proposes a different arrangement, hydraulic model tests will be required of him to assure proper shape of the high velocity water passages. The radius of the gates wiM be approximately 70 feet, and the centrelines of the trunnions will be approximately 57 feet above gate sill. The trunnions wiU be mounted on a concrete beam spanning between the spillway piers, permitting the use of several trainnfans. The top and side seals at the gates win be required to be watertight under varying head-water levels, gate openings and temperature conditions.
