TIES FOR OLD VIC ACTORS
Gift Of Vivien Leigh "The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND. Jan. 17. Male members of the Old Vic comoany at present in Auckland are proudly wearing very exclusive ties. The ties are not only handsome, but have the added value of having been designed by Vivien Leigh. Miss Leigh designed the motif, had the ties made and presented them as her gift to the men of the company to mark the opening night of the tour in Australia. The women members of the company were presented with matching cravats.
On the background of Wedgwood blue is centred a small embroidered motif. This has a central green* laurel
wreath—for a successful tour —which is topped by a small white flower representing the "Lady of the Camellias.” Placed just above the upper arms of the laurel wreatti are two tiny angels’ wings symbolising "Duel of Angels”; and below the wreath are the crossed swords of “Twelfth Night.” Inside the wreath are embroidered the initials of the Aoud owner of each tie or cmvat.
