Troops Flown To Europe
(N.Z Press Assn.— C’opyrtpnt) McChord Air Force Base (Washington), January 17 Huge military cargo planes vesterday, began taking off every hour in a massive air lift of 5400 American troops to Europe. .. “Operation Long Thrust H was designed to see how quickly North Atlantic Treaty Organisation troops in Europe could be reinforced from the United States United Press Internationa' reported. More than, 100 planes would airlift the troops and 194 tons of equipment to their main air force base in Germany. The airlift, which would take five days, was the largest peacetime alritn of combat troops to an overseas station since Operation “Big Slam” to Puerto Rico m 1960. U.P.I. said.
