MARKETING OF APPLES
Board To Meet Firms (From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, Jan. 17. The Apple and Pear Marketing Board, which has taken over tihe export of apples and pears to the Pacific islands, has invited Auckland and South Island firms formerly in the trade to discuss the move with it on January 31. The firms have challenged the decision of the board. Mr J. H. Parker, chairman of the board, said today that it had already appointed a new sole agent in Fiji and planned to take similar action in New Caledonia. “This is a step we did not take ligbtfly,” he said. “It has been very carefuly considered. But we will be happy to meet the marketing firms.”
