Warning Given By Police (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. January 17. A warning that children under 16 must not have firearms or ammunition in their possession, and that persons who sell or supply them to children are also committins an offence was given today b\ Chief Superintendent G' A Howes officer in charge o! the Wellington police district “This warning comes aftei two accidents during the holi day period in which two young people were injured as a result of the use of firearms by juveniles.” he said.
Induiries, still continuing had revealed that the wea oons were procured by adults “Some people in innocence and ignorance do this bv wav of Christmas or birthday pre sents for children still unde the age of 16.” Mr Howes said he had no doubt that parents made thespurchases with onlv the best intentions . "However, not only are they illegal, they can have tragic consequences.”
