Troops For Struggle (N -Z .P .A. -Reuter— Copyright) DJAKARTA, January 10. Kahar Muzakkar, a former rebel, who only last year gave up his 10year - old fight against the Indonesian central Government, has offered to lead about 8000 of his former rebel troops in any military action against West New Guinea. Muzakkar, a former Indonesian Army colonel, led fanatic Dural Islam bands in the central and southern Celebes in a fight for the establishment of an Islamic State in Indonesia, said the British United Press. The Macassar local Army commander. Colonel M. Jusef, told the British United Press in an interview today that Muzakkar had pledged his support in the fight for the "liberation” of West New Guinea in a signed statement early this month. Colonel Josef said Muzakkar was now in Bone, South Celebes, but he did not say whether he had his former rebel troops with him at present.
Author’s Fund Dr. Han Suyin, the Malayan author of the best seller “A Many Splendoured Thing,” said today that she has started a fund to help the Indonesian campaign. She disclosed this in a letter accompanying a gift of 250 Malayan dollars she sent to the Indonesian Consul-General in Singapore (Colonel Soegih Arto). Dr. Han said the money was "a token support and sympathy I feel towards the Indonesian people’s fight to completely free their soil of colonialism.” She said she was getting her friends to contribute towards the fund to help the Indonesian struggle. The official news agency Ceteka reported in Prague today that the Czechoslovak President (Mr Antonin Novotny) bad sent a telegram to President Soekarno expressing his “joy and satisfaction” at the failure of an attempt on his life by "enemies of an independent Indonesia and its unity.” Mr Novotny wished Dr. Soekarno good health and success to the Indonesians in their “just struggle for the unification of their country.”
