BITUMEN FIRE
Storage Tanks Threatened (N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN. Jan. 10. onnn ,tc> ™6 e containing 2000 gallons of bitumen a partly-filled 1000-gallon tank snd a oartlv* filled 2000-gallon tank of diesel fuel were endangered bv burning bitumen near Logan point, Dunedin, today. Firemen brought the blaze under control with foam At one stage there were two explosions as valves j ew the kerosene and fuel tanks into the hplside starting a grass fire, but the flames were soon Drought under control. The tanks were hosed with wa r £ r to keep them cool. Damage to the plant is estimated at about £lOO.
