New South Wales Trotting Club stewards today suspended for six months the trainer’s and driver’s licence of Sydney’s leading reinsman, J. C. Caffyn. The stewards acted against Caffyn after an adjourned inquiry into morphine doping of his New Zealand-bred trotter. Primastella. which was swabbed after she won the Trotters’ Handicap on December 15. Caffyn was found guilty of neglect to that he did not take “proper and reasonable precautions” to prevent Primastella from being doped. It was reported that Caffyn said he had not made up his mind about ah appeal against the suspension.
