Country Match At Kimberley (Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) KIMBERLEY. Jan. 3. 'Hie weather was hot and sultry when the New Zealanders resumed their second innings with an overall lead of 78 on the final day of the two-day match against South African Country Districts at De Beers Stadium, Kimberley, today. The New Zealanders made 169 in their first innings, then dismissed Country Districts foe 97. G. T. Dowling (4) and T. T. Sparling (2) continued the second innings today to the bowling of Rennie and Nunan. Sparling took six off Rennie’s first over and in Rennie’s next over he was dropped by Lang in slips. With the total at 20 Sparling got a touch off Rennie and the wicketkeeper, Cole, took the catch. Ten runs later Barton was bowled by Rennie with a ball which came back off the pitch and knocked back his leg stump. B. W. Yuile. ■top-scorer on Saturday, was beaten by a good ball from Rennie and in Rennie’s next over Yuile played forward and got an edge for Cole to take hi? second catch. J. W. Guy opened his score with a forceful drive through covers for a single off Rennie, who appeared to be moving the ball in a slight breeze blowing across the wicket. Foss, a left-hander, replaced Nunan and Dowling turned him to fine leg for 4 Guy and Dowling, both batting attractively, sent up 50 in 66 minutes. Rennie was replaced by Nunan after bowling 10 overs for three wickets and 25 runs in a spell of an hour today. Scores: NEW ZEALANDERS First Innings .. .. 169 Second Innings G.
