CORNWELL CUP TRIAL
Paremata Crew Wins Easily j (N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, January 7. The Paremata Z class yachting representatives, G. Sh»pland and G. Paul, will be strong contenders in this year's Cornwell Cup series. They won handsomely an invitation race for Z class craft at Port Taranaki in a cup preview today. Commencing the race well back in the field. Paremata overtook the race leader, Auckland (R. Dew and L. Sommerville), in the final lap before going ahead to win by nearly three minutes. In second place was the Wellington representative yacht, Elusive (M. Swanson and J. Turner) with a long stretch back to Auckland in third position and New Plymouth fourth. The present titleholder of the cup, New Plymouth (W. Innes and T. Barryli in Sin. were left well behind at the start when they crossed the lifie ahead of the starting gun and had to recommence the race.
