Demonstrations

A crowd of about 2300 attended a demonstration night at Canterbury Court last evening for the final function of the Pacific international roller skating championships held earlier in the week. There were exhibitions by visiting United States skaters and competitors from other parts of New Zealand. An inter-island hockey match was won by the South Island. 3-2. The youngest competitor was found to be Kathryn Cox, of Wellington, aged 3 years 10 months. She was only a month younger than Bronwyn Bell, of Whangarei, who gave a solo item.

Canterbury girls presented a ballet on skates, with Marie Whittle as soloist. A “classical ballet” was presented by an Auckland group of eight men and one girl.
