ROYAL YACHT ROMANCE
Hairdresser And Seaman To Wed
During Princess Margaret's honeymoon cruise in 1960, another romance was blooming on the Royal yacht Britannia, between Sylvia Davies. Princess Margaret's hairdresser, and Able Seaman (now Leading Seaman) David Jephcott. They are to marry soon.
Into her short life, blonde, blue-eyed Miss Davies, now 21, has packed a surprising amount of excitement. The daughter of a publican, she joined a fashionable West End hairdresser. Rene Moulard. soon after leaving school at 15.
Quickly her skill made her a favourite with the women who came to the salon, and she was a natural choice when Princess Margaret wanted a hairdresser to accompany her to the West Indies.
"Princess Margaret is such an easy person to get on with." she said. “She chatted to me and put me completely at ease. And she let me take many photographs of herself and her husband.
“I barely had to ask permission. The Princess saw me with my camera one day and she suggested it. She was so happy, so much m love, that she made everyone feel happy as well," Mji Davieffi said.
