Mr S. M. Cameron took up his duties this week as resident orthopaedic surgeon to the North Canterbury Hospital Board. Mr Cameron, a native of Wellington, returned to New Zealand recently after working for three years at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital London, where he gained his fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (F.R.C.S.). He is a graduate of the University of Otago Medical School, Mr P. E. Trevella, the Australian manager for the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand, Ltd., has been re-elected chairman of the Australasian Steamship Owners Federation. Dr. T. Romans the chief medical office; of the Cook Islands, returned to Auckland from Rarotonga yesterday in the Moana Roa. Dr. Romans, who is accompanied by his wife and children, will spend five to six months in New Zealand on leave. —(PA.)
