(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MIAMI BEACH, January 3. The United States upset, topseeded Australia 2-1 today in the semi-finals of the annua! Orange Cup International junior tennis team tournament The United States' top junior. C. Pesarell, defeated the Australian A. Roche. 9-7, 6-1, and then joined C. Buchholz, thirdranked U.S. junior, to win the doubles from Roche and G Pollard. 8-6. 6-1. Pollard gave Australia tts only victory, beating Buchholz in the second singles. 9-7, 6-1. Roche, second-ranked Australian junior, pulled an abdominal musicle near the end of the first single set. He complained of pain, but finished the game although he appeared to be off form
South Africa won the other final berth, beating Italy two matches to one. Australia beat New Zealand in the quarterfinals.
Juniors For Tournament The winners and runners-up in the senior boys' and girls' singles at the Canterbury secondary schools' lawn tennis championships last month will represent Canterbury at the B.P. tournament at Hamilton. They are L. W. Watkins ißanaiora High School), A. Brooks (Christchurch Boys' High School), Misses S. Rich (St. Margaret’s College) and D Smith tßangiora High School) The tournament for secondary schools’ representatives from associations throughout the Dominion will be at Hamilton from January 29 to 31.
