First-year Failures

Forty-five per cent of the 580 first-year medical students at the University of Sydney failed in the 1961 examination.
The results were published a few days ago. A Medical school spokesman yesterday blamed the high failure rate on “the low matriculation standard” for students to enter the faculty of medicine.
