Cup Winner To Return
Quite Able, the early favourite for the Wellington Cup, run on January 20, who will return to Riccarton from the North Island at the weekend. He will be at Riccarton for Just more than a week before he is taken back north for his Trentham racing.
Quite Able, which won the New Zealand Cup in November, completed a difficult double by winning the Manawatu Cup on December 23. He has lost a little condition in the hot weather in the North Island since his Manawatu Cup win, but his trainer, C. G. Humphries, expects to see Riccarton's top
stayer thrive when he returns home. Quite Able is at present at Tauharenikau with his stablemates, Coral Ring and Hand Over. Coral Ring was tied up by the hard tracks in his two starts over the holidays. Hand Over ran a fourth at Atvapuni, but did not strike her best form.
