AUCKLAND, Jan. 1. Auckland retained the Brabin Cup when it beat Otago in the last round of matches, which ended today at Eden Park, by an innings and 172 runs. Canterbury, the runners-up, beat Wellington. by four wickets. Scores were: Auckland beat Wellington, which lost ail three games outright, and Canterbury on the first innings in a highscoring match, and confirmed its superiority the last game against Otago. The ’ final pom is gained were: Auckland 25, Canterbury 21, Otago 10, and Wellington 0. The Braithwaite Trophy, awarded to the best fielding side, was shared by Canterbury and Wellington.
