A framed letter of commendation from the Royal Humane Society has been presented to Richard Pierson, a Fbran II pupil of the Spreydon School, for showing "coolness and presence of mind when Mr Torrens and Mr King were thrown from a motor-boat in Akaroa Harbour on December 38 1038.
