BEARING OF POLICE
Chief Gives Advice (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 20. The people of New Zealand had confidence in the police, but with some reservations, said the Commissioner of Police, Mr C. L. Spencer, at the quarterly police parade in Albert Park today. This made it essential for policemen to conduct themselves well at all times, he said. Complimentin.g the parade on its bearing. Mr Spencer said: "A well-dressed policeman creates a good impression on the people he serves. A pleasant approach and good manners help, too.” The following received awards for long service and good conduct: Senior-Ser-geant B. R. Alty (22 years’ service). Sergeant R. Turnbull (22 years), Constable W. J. Coleman (22 years). Detective Senior-Sergeant R. J Walton (14 years), Constable G. D Sutherland (14 years), Constable J. M. Scott (14 years). Detective D. A. Stonehouse received a commendation for his skill and industry in investigating difficult cases involving theft by misappropriation and forgery.
