ROVER SCOUT MOOT
Boys To Leave For Australia Eighty-two Rover Scouts—the largest Rover contingent ever to travel from New Zealand—will attend the international Rover Moot to be held at Melbourne from December 27 to January 7. The international moot, which, like the scout jamboree, is held every four years, will be the seventh held, and the first in the Southern Hemisphere About 30 Rover Scouts from Christchurch will leave within the next few days. On Christmas Day, 26 of them will leave from the Christchurch airport. Altogether, nearly 1000 Rover Scouts from 24 countries will attend the moot at Clifford Park, about 25 miles from Melbourne. As one of the primary ideals of these meetings is to foster international fraternity, the scouts will be formed into patrols comprised of boys from any countries At campfire meetings and other gatherings information on the culture and lore of the different lands will be exchanged. Conferences will be held for contingent leaders and Rover leaders. Four days of the moot will be devoted to expeditions. Members may choose such activities as gliding, surfing, mountaineering, or rail and bus trips. During these four days the scouts will disperse in large groups to various areas, where they will foltow tha activity of their chotea.
