Beckenham
Prizes and awards at the annual prize-giving ceremony of the Beckenham School were presented by Mrs R. D. HarkerBrown. wife of the chairman of the school committee. Mr Browri presented to Mr S. V. King, a member of the school committee, a 10-year service certificate from the Canterbury Education Board. The retiring headmaster (Mr D. J. C. Pringle) and his wife received presentations from the school committee and from parents of pupils. The prizes were as follows: Dux.—Boys: Peter Whale. Runner-up. Peter Moffatt. Girl: Diane Brown. Runner-up, Joanna Horsley. Woodwork Prizes.—Form 2M: Paul Skilton. Form 2K: Warren Hardwick. Form 2C: Duane Laws. Cooking Prizes.—Form 2M: Diane Brow’n. Form 2K: Helen Stewart. Form 2C: Lynette Hobbs. CS.P.S.S.A. Sports Certificates. —Athletics: Rawinia Panirau. Swimming: Helen Zimmerman. Boys’ Swimming Championship.—Brian Presland. Girls’ Swimming Championship.—Gay Cardwell. Graham Dann Challenge Swimming Cup.—Brian Presland. Hockey Stick, given by Mrs J. Anthony.—Tony Chaston. Hockey Stick, given by School Committee.—Robert Mcllroy. Chairman’s Prizes for best all-round sports.—Boys: Stuart McCann. Girls: Barbara Davis. Life-saving Awards.—Bronze: Brian Presland.
