Cargo Keeps Up At Lyttelton
The tonnage of • cargo handled at Lyttelton last month was greater than that of November, 1960—145,976 compared with 131.995. Imports were 101,287 tons (97,891 in November last year) and exports 44,689 tons (34.104). These figures brought the total for the two months of the board's financial year to 220.836, compared with 220,126 in the corresponding period of 1960. During the month 153 ships with a net register tonnage of 406.236 used the port, compared with 129 vessels of 320.517 tons a year ago. Fiftyfour of the ships were from overseas.
