Declaration On E.E.C. (Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) LONDON. December 12 Leaders of the three farmers' unions of the United Kingdom and of the German Farmers’ Union after a meeting in London agreed to join forces to strengthen their voice in the Common Market The joint declaration said that farmers should have a voice in administering Common Market plans for agricultural markets It also asked that the transitional period for co-ordina-ting national farm policies should be extended substantially beyond the present target date of 1967 The declaration recognised that Britain’s entry into the Common Market would, because of . her links with the Commonwealth, create special problems. Tauranga’s Rapid Growth (N.Z Press Association) TAURANGA, Dec. 13. Tauranga is the fastestgrowing urban area in New Zealand and its. population is increasing at a rate nearly three times as fast as the Dominion s rate of increase The chairman of the Western Bay of Plenty public relations organisation (Mr A Gallagher) said in Tauranga last night that in 1954 the Tauranga urban area had a population of 8342. In 1956 it was 18,724, and in 1961, at the last census, the population had risen to 24.759
