Elliott To Make Attempt (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON. Dec. 11. The legs that won Herb Elliott the world mile record will race higher soon, according to the “Daily Sketch." He aims to be the first to fly a mile in a pedal-power aeroplane, the newspaper said. Elliott, a member of Cam. bridge University’s Air Squadron, will tak” off at Lasham, Hampshire, in the Christmas holidays. A prize of £5OOO for the first pedal flight has been offered by an English business man. His commanding officer. Wing Commander J. Thompson. said: “We heard of Southampton University’s previous attempt and realised they needed someone with plenty of stamina. Herb has plenty of stamina, is very light and is a pilot."
