WAR PENSION APPEALS

Christchurch R.S.A. Results Of 163 war pension appeals conducted by the Christchurch Returned Services* Association in the last four years. 88 had been upheld, and 75 dismissed, a report by the secretary (Mr F. Barron) showed on Monday evening. *Mr Barron was resporting to She association s executive on appeals conducted in 1961. During the year, he said, tfcere had been 35 appeals. of which 17 had been upheld. The appeals were divided into those for the two world wars. For the first, seven cases were taken under the heading of disability attributable to service. One was upheld. The only appeal against assessment was upheld. There were 16 cases involving servicemen of the Second World War. Seven were upheld and nine dismissed. In appeals against assessments, eight were upheld and three dismissed. “A very good record contacting it is 20 years since the outbreak of the Second World War.” commented Mr D. Barrett.
