Bowls TOUR OF BAY OF PLENTY

Centre Completes Arrangements Arrangements for a goodwill tour of the Bay of Plenty had been completed, said the president of the Christchurch Bowling Centre (Mr F. W Larcombe) to delegates to the centre at a meeting on Monday evening. Thirtytwo bowlers wo-uld go, and the two weeks’ tour would cost £55. Mr Larcombe said that the executive had given full consideration to the printing of a poster on foot faulting, as requested by the Umpires’ Association at last month’s meeting. The executive had decided not to print the poster, mainly because of the cost and also because it was felt that little would be achieved by the poster. Mr W. R. Featherston, reporting on the activities of the New Zealand Bowling Association, said, that the sub-committee appointed to revise the rules had completed its task. These revised rules would now be forwarded to the judical committee for its approval. On behalf of the association, Mr Featherston thanked the clubs for the work they had done to bring their greens up to an excellent standard for the forthcoming Dominion tournament. He asked the delegates to request their green superintendents to have 12ft Bin rinks for the singles and pairs, so that the rinks could be kept as far as possible from the side ditches. After a long discussion ’bout players having the club name in a different colour from the red of the monogram, it was agreed that, as this was contrary to the resolution when the centre monogram was adopted, the clubs be advised that players could not wear monograms with the club name in a different colour.
