OIL SEARCH LTD. PLANS
Decision Soon On Site In Papua (N .Z.P.A.-Reut er—Copyright > SYDNEY, December 12. Oil Search, Ltd., believed “a restricted, but carefully planned programme could be carried out with or without the benefit of association with other companies,” the chair man (Mr G. B. Kater) said at the annual meeting yesterday. He said the company would decide soon whether to drill for oil on a recommended site in Papua or to exploit gas prospects, which would involve further drilling. The exploitation of gas prospects would soon reach a stage warranting first preference. A report from the company’s consultants, Degolyer and MaeNaughton, Texas, said preliminary talks were being held with operating companies which might be interested in the venture.
