PROMOTING TOURISM
N.Z. Urged To Make Effort (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, December 12 New Zealand should step up its tourist promotion overseas after the amending of the licensing laws and the decontrol of hotels, in the opinion of Mr N. E. Lobb, chief executive officer of the Travel and Holidays Association Mr Lobb said in Auckland today that decontrol and the amendments were a foundation stone on which tourism expansion could be built. But overseas promotion, which was insufficient at present, must be increased in anticipation of the building of first-class tourist hotels. Tlie international tourist market was highly competitive and New Zealand’s promotion must rank with the best in quantity and quality if the country was to get its full share of tourists. Cyclist Injured.— lan Keith Milne, aged 14, of 123 A Mackenzie avenue, was treated at the Christchurch Hospital for abrasions and shock after falling from a bicycle in Horotane Valley road about 5 p.m. yesterday.
