FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A cold front is advancing northwards over the north of the South Island, while a ridge of high pressure covers the south of the South Island. Forecast:— Marlborough.—Moderate variable winds with southerlies predominating at first, north-westerlies later; cloudy with occasional rain, mainly during the morning; moderate temperatures. Outlook: partly cloudy. Nelson.—Moderate to fresh northerly winds; cloudy and mild; occasional rain. Outlook: partly cloudy. Buller and Westland.—Light to moderate variable winds: cloudy with occasional rain in Buller and north Westland, but partly cloudy in the south; moderate temperatures. Outlook: occasional showers. Canterbury.—Moderate to fresh southerlies turning to easterlies, some scattered rain at first in the north, but partly cloudy weather gradually prevailing; moderate temperatures.
