LICENCES MUST BE CARRIED
Transport Dept. Warning
(From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, December 7. Driver® of motor vehicles who fail to produce their licences when asked to do so will be prosecuted by the Transport Department in future, according to Mr L. A. Wright, chief traffic officer in Greymouth. He said such action was in line with national departmental policy, and was due to the increased incidence of disqualified drivers picked up for driving during the period of disqualification. In the past, the department has allowed a stipulated period in which motorists may produce their licences if they do not have them with them. Now, however, it will automatically mean a traffic offence notice for offenders, and subsequent prosecution.
