Nativity Scene At Sumner
; A ttaUvity scene will be erected M Sumner in the area between the Cere Rock and the old pier during the week before Christmas. Its erection has been, arranged by the combined churches’ group at Sumner, representing Anglican, Roman (Catholic, Presbyterian. Methodist Churches and the Salvation Army. The nativity scene will be erected on a timber framework (pictured above), and is being designed by Mr Paul Psecoe.
A carol service will be conducted in front of the nativity seeps between 8.15 pm. and 9 pa. on Christmas Eve by the group of churches. All interested citizens of Sumner, Lyttelton and Christchurch are invited to attend this service. "We hope that the nativity scene and combined carol service wiD provide a spiritual and aesthetic inspiration to their celebration of ChristHtiis,’’ said the secretary of the combined Churches’ nativyy committee (Mrs M Murdoch) yesterday. j T 1
