Shortage Of Teachers
Sir, —These days we are handed education on a silver blatter, and, like spoilt children, neither appreciate nor care how we use it. If a school fee-say, £2 a child a term—was charged (as in many private primary schools in this country) teachers’ pay could be increased, and I am sure both parents and pupils alike would take more interest in the school and education as a whole. Who yet hasn’t expected value for money?— Yours, etc., C.L.K. November 26, 1961.
