Drum-Major A. Miller won the staff flourishing contest, to give the band yet another victory. The competitions were held in bright sunshine, perhaps a little too bright for those In the warm band uniforms, and a moderate wind gave trouble in some of the marching events. The Blenheim Showground was perhaps not as level as eould have been wished. The Metropolitan Highland ■ Band was the most successful ■ in the B grade, with first placings in the street march, the quick-step, the drum-major's display and the dress inspection and second place in the test selection. The C grade winners were not quite so clear cut, but the North Canterbury Caledonian Band took the highest aggregate points award after taking first placing in the test selection' and second in the quick-step. In the B grade test selection. City of Christchurch and Metropolitan Highland each scored 164,4 points.
