Theatre Mari’s Death
One of the country's most colourful theatrical personalities, James Leighton Clarke, has di-ed in Wellington. His experience included the initial production course at the Old Vic in 1947 and he appeared in that company’s productions. He played in many British and Continental films and after some time in America returned to New Zealand to become manager of the New Zealand Players touring company. He was associated with many internationally known artists and last year managed Sir Donald Wolfit's tour. Mr Clarke’s more recent interests were with Pacific Films and television and he was responsible for much of tire television work produced in this country.
