IMPROVEMENTS AT G.H.S.
Grants For Staff Amenities Two grants totalling £l6ll have been approved by the Education Department for improvements to staff amenities at the Christchurch Girls' High School, the secretary of the school’s board of governors (Mr P. J. Halligan) reported at a board meeting last evening. One grant of £1961 is to cover the cost of remodelling th» staff common room. The other grant, of £9O. is to provide furnishings for the principal’s study. In her report to the board, the headmistress (Miss P. Robinson) said that a prize, to be known as the Miss R. F C. Tyndall prize, had been established by Miss Tyndall. It will be awarded each year to the girl in the lower sixth who has best upheld the traditions of the school by scholarship, sport, and leadership. Miss Tyndall was principal of the Christchurch Girls’ High School for eight years until her retirement last May.
