Company News C.S.R. 1961 SEASON
Sugar Output Hopes (N2L Press Assv.—Copyright; SYDNEY. November 27. The Colonial Sugar Refining Company, Ltd, expects to produce about 300X100 tons ot raw sugar for the 1961 season. This is slightly lower than expected, but about the same as in toe previous season. In a half-yearly report, toe company blamed very tow rainfall in North Queensland. Directors welcomed a report by the Fiji Sugar Inquiry Commiestoner, published early in September and which said toe position in Fiji now was much more stable. They said some oi the provisions in toe report were not welcome to toe company or to growers but toe company intended to accept the cane contract without alteration. Australian Sales The company sold 243,000 tons ot refined sugar in Australia, during toe half-year to September 30, an increase ot 4 per cent, on the corresponding half-year in 1960. Sales of sugar products by the company’s subsidiary. New Zealand Sugar Company, Ltd, also showed a small increase. They said they could see no reason why toe present Commonwealth sugar agreement should not be accepted by toe Common Market , countries. A substantial equivalent easily could be guaranteed on a tong-term basis.
