FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.— A depression in the central Tasman Sea is moving south-eastwards towards New Zealand and a ridge of high pressure extends from Tasmania to the area south and south-east of the South Island. Forecast.— Centra] Marlborough, the sounds and Nelson.— Moderate to fresh winds, south to south-easterlies; cloudy and cool with a few scattered light showers likely by afternoon. Buller and Westland.—Moderate to fresh northeasterly winds; cloudy to overcast skies with occasional light showers. Temperatures mild. Kaikoura coast and Canterbury.—Light to moderate east to north-east winds; cloudy to overcast skies with occasional light drizzle, chiefly near the coast: temperatures cool.
