£250 Gift To University
Mr W. S. Mac Gibbon has given £250 to the University of Canterbury to provide some permanent feature to improve the new site at Ham. Earlier this year he gave £250 to launch the students' union appeal. The Vice-Chancellor (Dr. L. L. Pownall) told a council meeting yesterday that Mr Mac Gibbon wished to provide some feature which would, aesthetically and permanently, enhance the new site. An avenue of trees had been suggested. The Chancellor (Mr C. H. Perkins) said Mr Mac Gibbon had been interested in the university for many years, and this was another example of his thoughtfulness.
