Instant Coffee Shortage
_ Sir.—Your correspondent. A L.Dbiames bulk buying and reduced price for the present shortage of instant coffee, but surely this is good business. I presume these firms would be entitled to sell at the full price; but the fact that they enable the consumer to save by selling at a reduced price does not indicate greed, but rather a step in the right direction of lowering living costs. That demand has exceeded supply for the moment is also good for the manufacturers* prosperity. and I have no doubt they are busily encaged in overcoming this difficulty— Yours, etc.. - JB - November 24. 1961.
