CONFERENCE OF ENGINEERS
■ Christchurch To Be , Venue , The Dominion conference ' of the Institution of Engineers will be held in Christchurch , next February, the recent ' meeting of the Canterbury ' braneti was advised. . Preparations are in the i hands of a conference com- . mittee which comprises the branch executive committee with Messrs F. V. Doidge, A. W. Riddolls, P. Yeoman, E. E. ' James and E. H. Nalder. Membership of the,branch . had increased during the year from 183 to 193 members, the meeting was told. The Dobson Lecture, inaugurated this year to stimulate interest in ’ secondary school pupils contemplating engineering, had been well received by 200 Christchurch pupils. Officers elected were:— Chairman, Mr T. M. Stanton, ’ vice-chairman. Professor H. J. Hopkins; secretary, Mr G. C. Suggate: treasurer. Mr D. G. L. Cooper: correspondence secretary. Mr R. Shepherd;
( supper committee convener Mr A. WUliman; committee, Messrs J. A. Cashin, C. M. Hepburn, E. H. Mace, D. L. Steven and J. L. Woodward, immediate past chairman, Mr H. B. Goodman; chairman of ; the Student Chapter, Mr R. S. Gibbons.
