N.Z. Horse Wins At Rosehill

(N.Z. Press Assn.— CopyngM) SYDNEY. November 26. The effortless win of the New Zealand horse. Civic Centre, in the Encourage Handicap at Rosehill yesterday suggested further successes for him. It was Civic Centre’s second win from his last three starts, and gave the jockey. R. Selkrig. his third consecutive victory. Earlier Selkrig had won on Sedgewick and French Descent. Yesterday’s win was a complete reverse of Civic Centre’s form when he first arrived from New Zealand. The Randvzlck trainer, C. Ryan, bought Civic Centre’ in New Zealand last April. Civic Centre was an acute "nerve" victim and was always falling over. He first fell on a road at Randwick when being taken to the track, and a few weeks later fell in a race at Warwick Farm. Two falls on the training track were next, and in one the gelding injured his back. Yesterday Civic Centre showed no sign of nerves and had the run of the race in third place to the half-mile. Then he moved up to challenge at the top of the straight. Civic Centre (7-2) raced right awav from his rivals to win most impressively. He beat Palm Brandy (16-1) by three lengths with two and a half lengths to Little Judy (7-1). third.
