Minister To Meet Deputation
A deputation from the Canterbury Manufacturers’ As■sociation will wait on the [Minister of Railways (Mr McAlpine) the next time he is in Chnstehurch to make representations against the closing of the Durham street railway crossing. The Minister said in a letter to the association that he would meet a deputation. He added that “every consideration has been given to its continued public use. but the hazards are such that it is in the public interest that it be closed to public traffic particularly as safe, alternative access is available ” association's secretary (Mr R. T. Alston) said yesterday he was pleased that the Automobile Association (Canterbury) supported the association and wanted to be represented on the deputation
