Minister To See Councillors
The Minister of Finance <Mr Lake) has agreed to meet City Council representatives early next month to discuss the widening of the Bank of New Zealand corner. The council has asked the bank to advance its plans for rebuilding on the whole site, and. with several councillors saying the bank was a Government institution. also approached the Minister for his assistance At presen* the bank is building only on the Cathedral square side of the existing building, and has told the council that “at a guess’* replacement of the old building could be within 10 years.
