L. Gallop, whose batting has been very good, although his bowling has been patchy. Truscott’s batting appeals much more than his bowling. But Gallop’s chances, and those of D. Currie (South Canterbury) must depend on whether Bolton wins a place in tbe team for his batting, if he is in the side, the selectors will probably fe£l they can not afford the luxury of another leg-break bowler. The wicket-keeper is almost certain to be E. England. On present form. Canterbury will not be fielding a strong side. But in the weeks before the shield matches begin, much may happen. Established but out-of-fiorm players may very well clinch their places with better performances, and the net practices may help separate the candidates.
