LENDING LIBRARY ASSISTANTS
Wage Increases In New Award Assistants in lending libraries in the northern, Taranaki, Wellington, Marlborough, Nelson, Westland, Canterbury, Otago and Southland industrial districts will start work half an hour earlier under a new award made by the Conciliation Court. The award applies to lending libraries other than municipal libraries. The hours will he from 8.30 a.m. until 545 p.m and on late shopping nights until 9 p.m. One hour will be allowed for lunch. Varying wage increases have been made. A male attendant aged 21 or more will now receive a minimum of £l2 10s a week, and a female £8 15s a week. A branch manager with not more than three assistants will receive £1 5s extra, and with more than three assistants £1 15s more. , Casual assistants may be employed up to 20 hours a week at the hourly rate appropriate for their age with the addition of 20 per cent Employees who have worked 10 years or more for the same employer will be entitled to three weeks’ annua! holiday instead of two weeks. The award apolies from November 20. 1961, until November 20. 1963. 39 Entries For Marching.— Thirty-nine teams have entered the United Marching Association’s championships, to be held at Williamson Park today. They include two visiting teams from the Mosgiel and Dunedin clubs. It will be the second of three championships to decide the Canterbury teams to compete in the South Island championships at Invercargill.
