Wellington Wool Sale Prices Firm On Napier

(New Zealand Press Association)

WELLINGTON, Nov, 24. The market at the first main wool sale of the Wellington season today was firm on prices realised at Napier, with a slight easing in the shabbier styles of wools, says the official report issued by the Wellington Woolbrbkers’ Association in conjunction with the New Zealand Woolbuyers’ Association and the New Zealand Wool Commission. The report says a total of

33.435 bales was offered, comprising ewe and shorn hogget fleece, with the usual oddments and early shorn wools. The showing was not quite up to the usual standard of previous November offerings, due mainly to the wet weather experienced earlier in the year. Continental buyers were operating freely on the finer wools and oddments, with Bradford interests taking some of the longer wools and coarse carpet types going to the United States Southdown and Down cross wools were eagerly sought by buyers operating on behalf of Japanese interests.
