Christchurch Drivers
Sir, —It was good to read a frank comment on your women's page today about Christchurch drivers. Miss Moore, of California, states that “here (Christchurch) it seems to me that no-one cares what they do on the road; they just do it.” How right she is, the standard of driving here is appalling. With the volume of traffic increasing daily, something must be done to shake Christchurch drivers from their apathy and general indifference to other road users. Perhaps this might be achieved if all those convicted of careless and negligent driving were made to take an intensive course, at their own expense, at a recognised driving school. —Yours, etc., R. B. HARVEST. November 24, 1961.
