CARPENTERS’ AWARD
Wage Increase Given An increase of 3jd an hour in the minimum rate under the New’ Zealand carpenters and joiners and joiners’ machinists’ award is given by the Court of Arbitration in a decision announced yesterday The award provides that after one week’s employment with the same employer the minimum wage shall be £l3 17s 6d a week, an increase of !0s lOd. Increases in wages date from October 22. and the award’s term is fixed until May 22. 1963. Among the new provisions is one that a worker specially directed by his employer to take charge of any work and who has at least two adult workers under his conrol shall be paid 7d an hour in addition to the minimum rates Previously the extra payment was 4s a day Increases are made tn the special payments for several classes of work, and a new section of the award provides for workers under the award employed in pulp and paper
