SOIL MOISTURE
The soil moisture deficit at the Winchmore irrigation research station was 379 points yesterday morning. It has now been more than 200 points for the last 24 days. This time last year the deficit was 104 points and had not reached the 200 mark at any stage. When the deficit exceeds 200 points considerable pasture production loss has already occurred and two irrigations may be needed to restore pasture growth rate.
